A Continued Focus on Sustainability

For the third consecutive year, BRAND GMBH + CO KG has successfully participated in the sustainability ranking of the EcoVadis evaluation platform and is awarded the Gold Status ranking among the top 5 percent of comparable companies in 2024. The evaluation criteria includes climate and environmental protection, good working conditions, ethical behavior, and sustainable procurement.

With a focus on sustainability, BRAND pipettes are designed to be easily dismantled into almost all individual parts, resulting in a highly reparable product. In addition to high-quality raw materials to

minimize wear, ease of repair and durability are priorities from the development stage. The long service life of our liquid handling instruments and volumetric instruments, reduces the consumption of resources for new devices. In the case of our disposable pipette tips, BRAND has optimized the technology to manufacture the pipette tips with thin walls, thereby conserving material. In addition, the Tip- Rack refill system has reduced the amount of waste by more than 20%.

Meet accu-fant

We’re thrilled to introduce our newest team member, the accu-fant! This fun-loving plushie comes to us with a big heart and an adventurous spirit. Born and raised in Germany, the accu-fant has a unique international flair and is always eager to share stories about his travels. When he’s not exploring new places, you’ll often find him rolling in the dirt—he loves to embrace life’s messier moments! A true foodie at heart, the accu-fant is always excited to try new dishes from around the world, bringing a taste of global culture to the workplace. His vibrant personality and infectious curiosity are already brightening the workplace and we’re so excited to have him as part of the team! New Year – time to set maintenance on your Vacuum Pump

While many pumps are "work horses" of the lab, they too require regular maintenance to ensure they run optimally and don't cause you downtime. Take this chance to set yourself a reminder every 6 months to check your pumps, including:

• Check ultimate vacuum – this is THE fastest indication of whether a vacuum pump is working properly.
• Oil Changes – if you are running a pump with oil, be sure to check the manufacturer's recommended oil change intervals – it may be more often than every 6 months!
• Check for wear and tear – inspect visually for any cracks or dirty filters
• Replace wearing parts – like valves and seals!
• Listen – is it louder than usual or making odd noises? It may be time for maintenance or cleaning.

Sales Spotlight

Sarah Sakamoto recently joined BRANDTECH as our newest Vacuum Technical Sales Representative for the East Coast.  With 20 years of experience as an application scientist, sales specialist and sales manager in the scientific instrumentation space, Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge to our organization where she looks forward to connecting with people in the field to assist with applications support. “Throughout my career I always built relationships by teaching and training. I was drawn to BRANDTECH because the culture of the organization is team sportsmanship.  My three goals for the coming year and beyond are to build relationships, learn the technology, and become a good contributor to the organization.” Outside of work, Sarah is passionate about volunteer work. She offers her time and resources at soup kitchens and food pantries, walks dogs for seniors who have health issues, and plays piano at her church. Welcome Sarah!
